Even if you have only a rudimentary understanding of PHP, this puts you in the driver seat and gives you a lot of useful explanations for understanding the ins and outs of how to write good code and clean plugins. MODX and WordPress, Side by Side (Everett Griffiths) -- due out mid 2012. This book pits WordPress against MODX and leaves no stone unturned. If you're familiar with one system and have wondered about the other, this book serves as a useful "translation" guide: the reader can quickly see how to accomplish the same task in both systems.
